1. Acceptance of these Terms
These Terms of Use are a legal agreement between you and Mighty Duck Media LLC, the operator of ShrinkPicture. By accessing or using ShrinkPicture, you agree to these Terms and acknowledge our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
You must be at least 13 to use ShrinkPicture. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, use the service only with permission from a parent or legal guardian.
2. The ShrinkPicture service
ShrinkPicture provides browser-based tools for compressing, resizing, processing, and downloading supported image files. The service currently supports selected JPG and PNG workflows and may impose limits based on file type, file size, batch size, browser, device capacity, or other technical considerations.
Current features may be offered free of charge. If paid features or subscriptions are introduced, pricing and any additional terms will be presented before purchase.
3. Your photos and responsibilities
Your selected photos are processed locally in your browser and are not uploaded to us as part of the compression process. You retain any rights you have in your files, and you do not grant us a license to them merely by using the service.
You are responsible for:
- Having all rights and permissions needed to process each file.
- Keeping safe backup copies of original files before using the service.
- Reviewing every result before publishing, sharing, relying on, or deleting an original file.
- Confirming that output dimensions, appearance, metadata, format, and compatibility meet your needs.
ShrinkPicture is not a backup service. We cannot recover your original or compressed files if they are lost, overwritten, or deleted from your device.
4. Compression modes and results
Smart Compress and Maximum Compression are lossy modes. They may discard image information, soften detail, change color values, or reduce dimensions to create a smaller file. Lower output-quality settings generally increase the likelihood of visible changes.
True Lossless is intended to preserve the encoded image pixels, but file structure and metadata may change. Metadata may be removed when you select that option. Lossless results may be only slightly smaller, the same size, or occasionally larger than the original.
Results vary based on the source image, selected settings, browser, and device. We do not guarantee a particular reduction, visual quality score, output size, processing speed, metadata result, or compatibility with every application or platform.
5. Acceptable use
You may not use ShrinkPicture to:
- Violate any law or another person's rights.
- Process content you do not have the legal right to possess or use.
- Interfere with, probe, damage, overload, or bypass the service or its security measures.
- Distribute malware, malicious code, or content intended to harm another person, device, or system.
- Misrepresent your relationship with ShrinkPicture or use our branding in a misleading way.
6. ShrinkPicture and open-source components
The ShrinkPicture website, branding, interface, original text, design, and non-open-source software are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. You may use the service for its intended purpose, but these Terms do not transfer ownership of the service or brand to you.
ShrinkPicture uses open-source software. Open-source components are governed by their respective licenses, and these Terms do not restrict rights granted under those licenses.
7. Availability, changes, and termination
We may modify, add, limit, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service. We may also restrict access when reasonably necessary for security, legal compliance, maintenance, or prevention of abuse. We do not promise that ShrinkPicture will always be available, uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with every device.
You may stop using the service at any time. Sections that by their nature should continue—such as ownership, disclaimers, liability, and dispute provisions—survive termination.
8. Disclaimers
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SHRINKPICTURE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE,” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.
We do not warrant that results will meet your expectations or that the service will be secure, accurate, uninterrupted, or free of harmful components. Some jurisdictions do not allow certain warranty exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
9. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SHRINKPICTURE AND ITS OPERATOR, AFFILIATES, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, CONTRACTORS, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, EXEMPLARY, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR LOSS OF DATA, FILES, PROFITS, REVENUE, BUSINESS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, total aggregate liability arising from or related to ShrinkPicture will not exceed the greater of $100 or the amount you paid for the service during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
These limitations do not apply to liability that cannot legally be limited or excluded. Nothing in these Terms waives rights you may have under applicable consumer-protection law.
Third-party claims
To the extent permitted by law, you agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the service and its operator from third-party claims, damages, and reasonable costs resulting from your unlawful use of ShrinkPicture, your violation of these Terms, or your infringement of another person's rights.
10. Governing law and disputes
Before filing a claim, please contact us and give us a reasonable opportunity to try to resolve the issue informally. This does not prevent either party from seeking urgent relief or using small claims court when eligible.
Subject to applicable consumer-protection law, these Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. A dispute that is not resolved informally may be brought in a state or federal court with lawful jurisdiction in California.
11. General terms
If a provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, it will be limited or removed only to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue. A failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these Terms without our consent; we may assign them as part of a reorganization, financing, merger, sale, or transfer of the service.
These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement about your use of the current service. We may update these Terms by posting a revised version and changing the date above. Material changes will receive additional notice when required by law.
