Your photos stay on your device.

1. Overview

ShrinkPicture is operated by Mighty Duck Media LLC. This Privacy Policy applies to the ShrinkPicture website and related services. We designed the compressor so that selected photos can be processed directly in your browser without being uploaded to us.

2. How your photos are processed

Photo selection, decoding, compression, preview generation, and ZIP creation occur locally in your browser. The original files and compressed results remain on your device unless you choose to send or store them somewhere else.

ShrinkPicture uses temporary browser memory and temporary local object URLs while the page is open. We release these temporary resources as you remove files and when the page closes or reloads. Your browser or operating system may manage memory on its own schedule.

Optionally, ShrinkPicture may remember compressor preferences (mode, output format, quality, maximum width, target file size, and the private-metadata toggle) in your browser's local storage on this device. Those preferences never include photo bytes, filenames, EXIF, previews, or compressed results. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes them.

ShrinkPicture may also install a service worker that caches the website UI and compression code on your device so the tool can load after you have visited once, including with the network off. That cache is limited to app assets (pages, scripts, styles, and codecs). It does not cache your photos, filenames, EXIF, previews, compressed results, or ZIP contents. Clearing this site's data removes the service worker cache as well.

If you choose “Remove private metadata,” ShrinkPicture attempts to remove supported location and camera metadata from the output. You should inspect the resulting file if metadata removal is important for your use case.

3. Other information we may handle

Information you provide

If you email us, we receive your email address, message, and any information you voluntarily include. Please do not email us original photos or sensitive personal information unless it is necessary for your request.

Basic website and security information

Like most websites, the infrastructure used to deliver and secure ShrinkPicture may process ordinary request information. This can include an IP address, browser and device information, requested pages, timestamps, approximate location derived from an IP address, and security or diagnostic events. This is separate from the photos processed locally in your browser.

Aggregate website analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand aggregate page views. It may report information such as page paths, referring website hosts, approximate geolocation (for example country or region), browser, operating system, and device type. Vercel Web Analytics does not use cookies or local storage for this measurement, and we do not use it to identify visitors, build advertising profiles, or track people across third-party websites.

The analytics beacon measures the website page only. It does not access the photos you select, filenames, photo metadata, compressed results, or ZIP contents. Those remain on your device.

Diagnostic error reports

To keep ShrinkPicture reliable, the website may send a small same-origin diagnostic report when an unexpected JavaScript error occurs in your browser. Each report is limited to an error name, a scrubbed message and stack trace, the page path (without query string or hash), a build identifier when available, and a timestamp. Reports are scrubbed before they leave your browser and again on our server so they do not include photo bytes, filenames, full URLs, user-supplied strings (such as quoted labels or filesystem paths), EXIF or other photo metadata, object URLs, or image contents.

These reports go only to our hosting provider's runtime logs (Vercel), which are short-lived forensic logs rather than a monitored alerting system. They are not sent to a separate error-monitoring vendor, are not used for advertising, and are not used to rebuild or view your photos. Expected compression outcomes shown in the interface (for example a photo that could not be compressed) are not automatically reported.

4. How we use information

We may use the limited information described above to:

• Deliver, maintain, secure, and troubleshoot ShrinkPicture.
• Respond to support, privacy, legal, or business messages.
• Understand and prevent abuse, fraud, or security incidents.
• Measure aggregate website use and performance so we can improve reliability and page experience.
• Diagnose unexpected client-side errors using scrubbed diagnostic reports so we can fix reliability issues.
• Comply with legal obligations and protect legal rights.
• Improve the service based on feedback you choose to provide.

5. When information may be shared

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. Limited information may be disclosed to:

• Hosting, infrastructure, and security providers that help deliver and protect the website.
• Professional advisers such as attorneys or accountants when reasonably necessary.
• Government authorities or other parties when required by law or reasonably necessary to protect rights, safety, and security.
• A successor in connection with a merger, financing, reorganization, or sale of all or part of the business, subject to applicable law.

6. Cookies, analytics, and tracking signals

ShrinkPicture does not use advertising cookies or cross-site tracking. Vercel Web Analytics uses a lightweight page-view beacon without cookies or local storage. Unexpected JavaScript errors may generate a same-origin diagnostic POST that carries only scrubbed technical fields (never photos or filenames). Hosting, analytics, and security providers may process limited request and performance data to deliver, measure, and protect the service.

Separately, the compressor may use your browser's local storage on this device to remember your preferred settings, and a service worker may cache app assets for offline use. That storage stays on your device, is not used for advertising, and never holds your photos or filenames.

Because we do not track people across third-party websites for targeted advertising, browser “Do Not Track” and Global Privacy Control signals do not change our current practices. If our practices change, we will update this policy and provide any controls required by law.

7. Retention and security

Photos selected for compression are not retained by us. We keep support and business communications only as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose they were received, recordkeeping, dispute resolution, security, and legal compliance. Hosting and security providers may retain technical data—including scrubbed diagnostic error logs in Vercel runtime logs—under their own retention practices. Those logs are not used to store or recover your photos.

We use reasonable safeguards appropriate to the information we handle. No website, device, browser, or transmission method can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

8. Your choices and California privacy rights

You can use the compressor without creating an account. You can remove selected files from the page, reload or close the page to end the local session, clear this site's stored preferences through your browser settings, and decide whether to contact us.

Depending on applicable law and the circumstances, California residents may have rights to request access to, correction of, or deletion of certain personal information and to opt out of its sale or sharing. ShrinkPicture does not currently sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. To make a privacy request, email us using the address below. We may need to verify your request and will respond as required by applicable law.

9. Children's privacy

ShrinkPicture is a general-audience service and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us, please contact us so we can review and address the request.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as ShrinkPicture changes. We will post the revised policy here, update the date above, and provide additional notice when required by law. Your use of the service after an update is subject to the revised policy.
