Compress PNG

Compress PNG images privately.

Optimize PNGs on your device — keep transparency when you need it, or convert photos to a smaller format when size matters more.

Honest about PNG

Great for graphics. Heavy for photos.

PNG shines for screenshots, UI, logos, and anything with sharp edges or transparency. For everyday camera photos, JPEG or WebP usually wins on size — and you can switch output after opening the tool.

FAQ

Common questions

Can ShrinkPicture compress PNG files?

Yes. Upload PNGs and keep PNG output for lossless graphics, or switch to JPEG/WebP when the image is a photograph that needs a much smaller file.

Why do some PNGs stay large?

PNG is lossless. Screenshots and logos often shrink well; camera-style photos usually stay bigger as PNG than as JPEG or WebP. ShrinkPicture is honest about that tradeoff.

Will PNG compression keep transparency?

Yes when you keep PNG (or WebP) output. JPEG cannot store transparency — transparent areas flatten if you convert to JPEG.

Are PNG files uploaded?

No. Decoding and compression run locally. Photo bytes and filenames never leave your device.

Should I use True Lossless for PNG?

True Lossless preserves encoded pixels exactly and is ideal when you cannot discard any image information. Smart mode still keeps PNG lossless when PNG is the output format.
